This Sunday the guys continued the tradition of attending their Yoga for Recovery practice in Philadelphia.
The weekly class, held at Grace and Glory Yoga in Fishtown, has become an essential element for the Manor of Hope community. Yoga gives the guys a chance to center themselves and feel renewed for the week to come. The heated practice also provides a great workout and a chance to sweat out the previous week’s stressors.
The guys practice what is called Baptiste Yoga™ which is a type of hot power yoga. It was developed in the 1940’s by Baron Baptiste, who says it is focused on asana (poses), meditation, and self-inquiry and is intended to be adaptable to any level of physical ability.
Their teacher Rachael Cipollone is a certified Babtiste yoga instructor who will be celebrating 10 years of sobriety in just a few weeks. Rachel works with all her students with care and patience while helping them to understand how principals of Yoga can be applied to their own recovery journey. She truly has become a mentor that our community can turn to for guidance and support.
