Each year at the end of summer the Manor staff and residents hit pause and take a retreat as a whole community.
This year the group spent 6 unforgettable days in Watkins Glen, a village adjacent to Lake Seneca in New York. The lakeside lodge in which we stayed was spectacular, offering us a beautiful space to build closer relationships, have fun, and spend time near nature.
Each year that passes we have been proud to see the Manor community grow. This year was we hosted the largest group yet, not just in staff and residents but in our guests as well. We could not achieve our mission without our many partners and this year a few of them came up to share time and space with us.
The list of activities we did during the week was long. There were quieter moments spent fishing, kayaking, or enjoying music around a fire. There were thrilling ones spent on the daily wakeboarding and jet skiing runs or sampling the world’s second hottest wing sauce. The group played board and card games on patios with breathtaking views of the lake and explored the historic Watkins Glenn State Park.
Enjoying these activities was a reminder of the importance of sharing time together. Community is the Manor’s strongest asset and building it takes efforts from all of its members. These bonds help us enjoy life’s pleasures and weather its difficulties. This year’s retreat was a week that will not be forgotten by its members and set the bar high for the ones to come.
