It’s a slam dunk!
Weekends were made for fun…and, on a sunny Sunday, our crew at the Manor jumped at the opportunity to have some!
Presented with tickets to attend the first 76ers playoff game, our basketball-loving residents piled into our beloved car “hooptie” and began our trek down to the big city.
What Philadelphia experience would be complete without a sidetrack to Dalessandro’s for, what some would call, the city’s best cheesesteak to fuel our afternoon? We motored on, braving the ever-present potholes and traffic congestion of the Schuylkill expressway, only to arrive at our seats right at the tip-off. Hometown pride shines brightly at Philadelphia sporting events, but, despite the crowd’s enthusiasm and a valiant effort on the team’s part, we took a loss.
We had a great time nonetheless and made our way to South Philly to cool off with some “wudder” ice while taking in the cityscape on foot. We rested in the shade of Washington Square Park and Independence Hall, to relax and people-watch before returning home.
It was a full day and a great time. We are thankful for the Manor of Hope program, which gives our staff and residents time to enjoy the dog days of summer together.
